Kanazawa University began accepting applications for the 6th Kanazawa University International Award on October 1, 2025.
This award honors internationally active researchers who have made outstanding achievements in the fields of philosophy, thought, and religion, inspired by Daisetz Suzuki and Kitaro Nishida, both of whom are closely associated with Kanazawa University. The award was established in June 2017 with a generous donation from the late Dr. Mitsuru Usui (a 1964 graduate of School of Medicine, Kanazawa University), with the aim of promoting further advancement in these academic fields and providing strong intellectual inspiration to emerging scholars of the next generation.
Starting this year, in addition to the main International Award, a new Encouragement Award has been introduced for mid-career and young researchers under the age of 45.
Applications will be accepted from October 1, 2025, to March 13, 2026. The award recipients are scheduled to be announced in early July 2026, followed by an award ceremony and commemorative lecture by the laureate in November 2026.
