On September 22, a seminar on overseas clinical training was held in Lecture Room 2 of the School of Medicine, featuring Kaku Kuroda, a graduate of the School of Medicine (currently the School of Medicine, College of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences). More than 20 participants joined the session both in person and online.

After graduating from School of Medicine, Kanazawa University in 2013, Kuroda trained at Okinawa Prefectural Chubu Hospital and Okinawa U.S. Naval Hospital, and is completing a family medicine residency and geriatric fellowship in the United States from 2020 to 2024.

In his lecture, Kuroda shared specific experiences from various stages of his medical career, including his time as a junior resident, his service at a naval hospital, the process of matching in the United States, and the clinical training he undertook after moving to the U.S. He introduced many episodes that could only be experienced through completing clinical training in the U.S., which provided strong inspiration for the students in attendance. Following the lecture, numerous questions were raised regarding career paths and the realities of studying abroad. Kuroda responded to each question with great care, offering students practical advice that helped them reflect on their future plans and made the session highly meaningful.

The School of Medicine, Kanazawa University is advancing career education initiatives that connect current students with alumni active around the world. These efforts aim to cultivate highly skilled medical professionals who can contribute to global healthcare, medicine, welfare, and medical research.
